NOTD: Essie Viva La Vespa
I was in a rotten mood, given yesterday's bad news, and I was in desperate need for a little cheering up. I decided to try a recent acquisition, Essie Viva La Vespa.
I have no clue what collection Viva La Vespa is originally from, but it was rereleased, along with SSN, in late 2007. Now, it's not as rare nor as sought-after as SSN, but it's still relatively HTF. There are a few bottles on eBay, usually in the $15-20 range. However, I got mine at VNS for $5. As far as I know, they still have them. If you are interested, you'll need to email them as they don't have d/c'd Essies or OPIs listed on their website.
Here's a pic:

Isn't this the most gorgeous color of purple you've ever seen? I know it's been compared to Essie Sexy Divide, but IMO, while SD is a beautiful color, but it's no VLV. If you are lemming VLV and can't find it, SD will do in a pinch, but if you can get your hands on VLV, it's totally worth it. It's a deep, rich, grape-y purple (that leans slightly blue) with fine magenta/red shimmer. There's no black in this. Thus, it's a beautiful deep color, but not what I would consider vampy.
I did have a few application issues w/ this, but nothing that wasn't easily handled. The formula was thin and it was streaky on the first coat. I had to do 3 coats on my left hand, but only 2 on the right.
I plan on taking comparison pics between this and SD, but I've been so flakey lately, I may not get around to it. I'll try, though. :)

That is a sexy purple; I love that color!
it's a reall cheer-up color :-) I hope you feel better and more optimistic. I knoe how you feel - I lost my job at april and I'm a single mom and an only provider of my family. I work from home now - but it's not good enough, so I still have finance issues. I hope things will work out for you and your husband. don't worry about giveaways right now - you've got a family to look after. I wish you good luck!
Purple! Love it, want it :D
Lovely shade of purple. It seems like it's lit from within. Looks lovely on you. I hope you feel a little more optimistic today. I really feel for you and your family. Your poor daughter not old enough to understand. You both have to keep it together for her sake. It must be so hard and I pray for all of you.
Thank you, all. I swear this is the prettiest purple I own. Why can't Essie do more colors like this? When she does step out of the pink/safe box, the colors are fab (Dominica Green, VLV, SSN, etc...), but for the most part, Essie is a snooze fest for me.
Lucy, while my kidlets are twins, my daughter is a little more ahead of the game than my son. She's more on target with her age than he is, so she understands more. She seems to be okay now. As for us, Tim is now working on his resume and filling out job applications. Last night, he went to a seminar about surviving unemployment. I'm having a hard time. All I want to do is sleep. I'm keeping a headache. I'm currently formulating a plan of attack for our house so at least we can clean while we are stressed out. :P Hopefully tomorrow will be better for me. I just don't want to do anything, but I need to stop feeling this way.
Thanks again, everyone.
