A quick bit of good news...
the place I told you all about a couple of days ago asked me to come in for an interview. Right now, I'm not really nervous because I feel like I have nothing to lose, but I'm sure come Monday, I'll be ready to puke. :S
I haven't looked for a job since 2003, and I haven't started a new job since 1999 (I briefly looked for something else after I graduated while still at my former employer). I think part of me has a little trepidation at the thought of getting a new job. Frankly, I enjoy not working. I like not having to answer to someone. I like not being under deadlines. However, I do miss having a sense of accomplishment and, ultimately, a paycheck, so in that regard, I'm kind of hoping I'm the right fit.
Tomorrow, I have to go to the mall and get 1-2 outfits to interview in. I haven't been employed since 2007 and unfortunately, the 20 lbs I've gained make any old clothes I may have had, impossible to wear. :( Plus, my old office was pretty casual, and since I don't wear dressy clothes to church as I'm always in a choir robe, my interview choices are kind of slim pickins'. We don't really have the money for new clothes, but I suppose you have to spend money to make money. Thank goodness, for credit cards and a 30% coupon at Lane Bryant.
Also, I do have one problem that I'd like some feedback on. I'm kind of perplexed about my np options for my interview. I've already chosen a color, and I'm wearing it now, but I hope it's not too dark. I tried a pale, neutral last night (OPI Skinny Dip'n in Lake Michigan) and it was dreadful. My skin is so pale that most light colors look like utter crap on me. I don't have many in my collection anyway, so I had to go w/ something darker. I wanted to chose something that would give me a little boost of confidence. I chose OPI Rose to the Ovation. I don't have a pic right now, but it's a rosier version of OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress. I'll take a pic later Sunday so you all can see it. Do you think this will be okay? I can change it if need be, but I think it will be okay, but then again, I've been out of the workforce for 2.5 yrs and even when I was there, my office was okay w/ anything.

To begin, congrats! And I wish you many many good luck! Mmmh... concerning a first encounter (no matter what it is), I always play it safe. I suppose it's in my personality to test the water thousands times very carefully before jumping (I'm conscious some are more audacious and less afraid than me and that not everyone is like me). I don't know what kind of person you are and none of us frankly don't know who those potentail employers are. I would personally wear a discreet color both playing it safe and making me feel VERY confident at the same time (I'd personally wear OPI Tickle My France-y! cause it's an opaque nude creme and darker than my light skin, super elegant but not boring on me and it's no drama if it's ever chipping). But not everyone would want to be discreet on such a day (and I suppose my choice is influenced by my country culture). I'll say, go for whatever makes you feel the most confident, the one completing you the most within the spectrum of "office safe" colors. Feeling confident is the most important. What is your favorite polish ever by the way? Also I went through your history of nails and realized your hands look very great with Parlez vous OPI! Here is!
Congrats on the interview; I am sure that you will do great! I thought that I would never get a job as I am 19 and have never been employeed, but I did find work in this economy. Heck, my mom didn't work for 18 years and she got a great job. Don't let the fact that you havent' worked in awhile get you down.:) As for nail polish colors; it's better to play it safer. I would go with a medium pink, like OPI Kreme de la Kremlin. It stands out without being obnoxious.
Unfortunately, I don't have OPI KdlK. I do have PVO, but I didn't really like that on my skintone w/o a konad. I love the color I have on, and it's a bit lighter than INRAW and other colors in that vein. If I have a chance tonight, I may be able to change into something a bit lighter, but considering I'll have to soak these nails off to change my polish, I may just go w/ this one anyway. I think I need something that makes me feel confident and that's going to be a darker color for the most part. I do have OPI Give Me the Moon that I can change into in necessary. I really appreciate your input. :)
Quick update... never did get a pic of Rose to the Ovation. Everyone I asked IRL, save my sister, said it would be best if I went a bit more muted. As those nails were lifting anyway (darn Nailene glue), I opted to get a set of traditional french nails from Target. It's boring and not me in the least, but it is more appropriate for an interview. Thank again for your input.
I pray that you get the job. Your a terrific person and you'll do well. Hope to hear from you soon.
Hope your interview goes great! A French Mani was the way to go anyway. Always safe:)
