Argh! TD raises prices on Essie
Remember last year when H2T raised the price on Essie to $8 and we were all scared that the other etailers would follow? Well, TransDesign has finally followed suit. It took them several months, but as of today, the price on Essie is now $8. VNS still has them for $4, but you have to email them to send you an invoice if you want a color from a collection older than Winter 09/10 (they've recently changed their site so you can now purchase OPI and Essie without having to be a pro). You can also get them from Amazon and eBay sellers for discounted prices.
I know it was speculated that Essie was putting pressure on the etailers to raise their prices. Makes sense from a business standpoint when you consider that Essie.com has an online store as well, and I'm sure the etailers were cutting into their sales. But from a NPaddict enthusiast collector standpoint, this really sucks. It's kinda turning me off Essies and if it weren't for the new Resort collection looking like a thousand kinds of awesome, I'd be ready to say I was taking a break from buying Essies. Hopefully, the other outlets won't be raising their prices until after the Resort collection releases.
What this has ensured is that I really have no need to purchase from TD in the future. True, they carry Misa, but aside from that, I can see all my business being directed at VNS from now on.

super crappy lame! thanks for the heads up. vns is def. getting my business now.
I have to say, it was hard enough for me to spend the $4...$8 is just not gonna happen! Guess I won't be getting any more Essie. They truthfully don't usually have collections worth that price tag.
major crap. I stay outside the U.S and transdesign was the only place I could find that ships internationally. Essie's thin formula and stingy skinny brush is not worth $8!
I agree on most of the points about Essie's polishes. However, there are a few that I really love. The main two being Mesmerize and Aruba Blue. I would consider paying $8 a bottle for those, but for the regular pink and red junk... no thanks. Thing is, when Essie does non-mainstream colors, like blues and greens and purples, she does them exceptionally well. Unfortunately, they are few and far between and they refuse to re-release them. I think the latest irksome thing was rather than creating a special edition of Dominica Green for mass consumption, she sends a bottle from the archives to ALU. I would pay $8 for Dominica Green or something in the same vein, but I refuse to pay $8 for another boring ass pink.
A bit sad as Essie increased to $8!!! Abit steep for Essie and sigh, i guess i'm not gonna expand my Essie collection. Lucky i got Angora Cardi for $4.
I was sooo disappointed as well, I have ordered from transdesign like 4-5 times now and being in Canada, Essie's go for like $10-11 here and paying $4 on TD was super awesome (even if the shipping was expensive). I was sad about this, but, I am not crazy about Essie's formulation so maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
Love your swatches by the way, check out my blog if you like, I will follow yours! ;)
