New Tattoo
Last Saturday, I got a tattoo. I've been tweeting about this for days, so I figured I'd go on and post it on the blog. Anyway, it here it is...
It's mostly healed, with just a little bit of the skin still recovering (in the Aries symbol). It's about 3"x2" an on my left wrist. It's my very first one, and I don't know if I see myself getting more. The pain was un-(excuse me)-fucking-real. Seriously. I knew it would hurt and I'd heard it being compared to a "bee sting", but that was one big ass bee that just sat on my wrist. :/ LOL.
I got it for a simple reason... to be a reminder of the promises I made to myself at the beginning of the year. It's to remind myself that I need to change. Hence the butterfly wings. Plus, I'm a hot-headed, impulsive, bitchy Aries, so I thought it was perfect. :)
At first, I hated it. I noticed every little imperfection and I was so afraid that I'd made a bad decision, because it was larger than I wanted and quite frankly, felt like I'd put my arm in a blender. Now at a week out, I must say that I love it. :)
As for those promises? As of yesterday morning, I'd lost 12 lbs! Still a LONG way to go, but it's a start.

Wow, that's great! Great colors and design, and I love the idea behind it! Glad you're happy with it.
And congratulations on that weight loss! That's quite a feat--and the hardest part is the beginning!
just 1 word - WOW!!!
It's so beautiful!!
Should have hurt a lot. Very pretty :)
Wow that is awesome! I've never had the guts to get a tattoo. Congrats on your weight loss, keep it up!!!!!
Congrats on your first tat. My first one was my lower back before people were actually getting them there. Pants had higher hemlines and I thought no one would ever see it. Who knew I was getting a cross tattoo'd on my lower back and it would eventually be known as a tramp stamp. Oops! A bee sting my ass! It feels like someone is taking a the tip of a steak knife and heating it up and then cutting you with it! I have since done most of the rest of my back and one on my leg and one on my arm. No more for me. I think....
I love what yours stands for. It is great! and congrats on the weight loss!
Nice tattoo! The thoughts behind it are beautiful!
Thanks, girls. :)
Cheryl, I never I had the guts either. I always toyed with the idea of a tattoo. My sister has 4 (she got one with me last week), so I thought about it, but could never decide on something that would be there forever. Then I started my little weightloss journey and after about a week, I needed something to be a visable reminder of essentially my contract with myself. I figure if it's tattooed on my body, I can't forget about it.
Maria, you're right. I kept saying it was a like a razor blade, but your description is dead on. There were times I thought I was going to come out of that chair. I was cursing like crazy, too. LOL.
I have a couple more ideas in mind, if I decide to get more. Thing is, I can totally see you sort of forgetting the pain. You remember it hurts, but you can't exactly remember *how* much it hurt. If I get more, they will probably be for milestones in this process. :)
Congrats on both your new tat and your weight loss!!! I have two tattoos, I did the second one in 2009 (a black dragon on my ankle) after a difficult period in my life, to remember that I went over it. I love tattoos that have a deep meaning, like yours (and are not just a "decoration").
It's good you got something unique!
And I know what you mean, When I got my tattoo I had to await a few days to get used to it before I loved it. It looks totally different to how it did in my head- different font, bigger etc. But different isn't neccessarily wrong.

Ahh my fellow Aries - I really do like your tattoo (:
And congrats on the weight loss! I am on the same path as you.. I finally hit a HUGE milestone in my weight loss, and let me tell you, it feels FANTASTIC!
Keep up the awesome work!!
very cute! i like that it's unique and means something to you like that. :)
i got my first tattoo in september and it actually didn't hurt at all but i think it was only because of the fineness of it (single thickness cursive writing) near the crook of my elbow. i fully believe that i lucked out and anything else anywhere else would be agony!

Hey, I just found your blog today while looking for a nail blog to admire. I found you on a Top 50 Nail Blogs website (http://www.spabeautyschools.com/article/v/10021/top-50-nail-blogs/). I must say, you deserve that number 1 spot! I perused quite a few blogs before yours and I must say, yours is the neatest, simplest, and easiest to read that I've found. But the biggest thing I love about your blog (and please don't take this negatively because it's meant as a huge compliment) is that you have normal nails! I feel so inferior reading other nail blogs and their nails are so perfect all the time. It's just not possible to have nails like that 24/7. I've always had tomboy nails, and it feels great to see a blog where I feel like my nails can look cute too :) I followed you after only reading 5 or so pages, and I'm excited to see what you have in store!
Thanks again, everyone. I'd been wanting one for awhile (in passing, as I know it would hurt like crazy), but I never could decide on a design. I felt, as my first one, it had to *mean* something. KWIM? So when I realized I needed to make a commitment to myself and do something to commemorate it, I thought a tattoo was a perfect solution.
Congratulations, Delaynee. It must feel good to hit a milestone. I've hit a bit of a rut, myself, so I'm hoping to get past it. :)
TOPAZnails, you are so lucky! And I truly mean that. The pain was definitely un-fun.
Nettie, Thank you! I really appreciate your comment. I know my nails aren't perfect, but I know what you mean about a nail-blog-inferiority-complex (I definitely had it when I first starting reading them), so I try to be a normal short-nailed girl in the blogger world. :)
It's my first time visiting your blog and already I love it! Goodness, I'd always wanted to know what tattooing is like, and you're very honest about it. Also I can relate to your reason for getting one and I just got a wish bracelet for that reason. Good luck with your quest. :)
