Zoya Dahlia
So in my absence, it appears that the "next big thing" was textured polish. I know a few companies have a variation of this, and one of those companies is Zoya. Late last year, I kept seeing press releases for PixieDust, but I really wasn't sure what it was. Turns out, PixieDust is matte polish loaded with texture and shine. On the nail, it looks like it's embedded with clear gemstones.
Today, I have for you Zoya Dahlia... the black polish in the first series of PixieDust polishes (and no, the fact that the polish is black and they named it Dahlia was not lost on me. LOL)...
Dahlia is a black shimmer loaded with silver sparkles with a sugary finish. To me, it almost looked like marcasite.
Now, per Zoya's press information and website, the PixieDust line is meant to be work matte. However, I'm pretty much OVER the matte trend (plus, matte polish never stays on my nails for more than 10 minutes), so I opted to use a topcoat. I also did this because I really dislike bumpiness on my nails (like in a really textured glitter). However, while the topcoat added some shine (though not much), it didn't really help with the bumpiness. Also, this polish will suck up the topcoat. It took three coats for it to look like I had used any topcoat at all.
That said, I really do like Dahlia. It looks like a super sparkly, yet bumpier, version of Orly Goth (one of my favorites).
Also, Zoya is coming out with a summer line of PixieDust polishes and they look fantastic.
Dahlia is available at Zoya.com and retails for $8.
Zoya Dahlia was sent to me for review. Link is not an affiliate link.
